Fristerbeens and smokemachines!

Last night, after 5 years of absence, we returned to the Bomvrij Hospitaal - a venue we've often visited ourselves in the good ol' days. This time however, we would be standing at the other side of the stage. We would be opening the night, but upon arrival, it became apparent that pretty much the entire PA and lighting system still had to arrive and get hooked up before we actually got a chance to check our stuff. No problem there - we just spent the time drinking a few beers and taking some bandpictures with our new fisherman Milan, who kindly helped us with balancing out the sound before and during the gig itself.

The hot day had made for a hot evening as well, which caused for the majority of the onlookers to set themselves down in the enbalming outdoors, listening to what we had to offer. Despite the lack of monitorspeakers (and an overactive smokemachine, heehee) we just performed to the best of our ability, opening with 'Off to Rome' and working ourselves through most of the classics, including our new blues extravaganza 'Neat Shit' (which has been added to the lyricspage, ofcourse). Afterwards, we were complimented on our show and (by the ones previously unfamiliar to our fishy musical conconction) overall sound.

Props go out to our session guitarist Wessel for managing to get it all together so well in such a short period of time. Further thanks go out to the Bomvrij Crew that still tried to accommodate us despite various valuable equipment being stolen weeks before the show, everyone who was there to support us (hail!) and to Jolande Harteveld, Con Cathalina and the Uwland family for being our army of paparazzi for the night.
