Off To Rome

Punic war spawned evil into Hamilcar's eyes
The Romans were the prey for spilling blood & spreading lies
He gave his son tusked beasts and sent him off to Rome
Surprise them through the Alps, Rome'll die, Revenge shall roam

The beasts made too much noise so the Romans could prepare
Han was no surprise no more, still into battle he dared
He won battles and all went well, but Rome was too far away
Returned to Africa a beaten man, regretted the men he didn't save

Then Hannibal met Scipio
To gain the prospect of peace
But Hannibal refused it all
He'd never succumb to his knees
Then the Romans sought vengeance and sailed to Carthagian shores
There Scipio reigned it all like he never did before

Hannibal and his elephants
The greatest army you've ever known
Roman reign makes a final stand
As they're marching off to rome

The beasts Han loved went up above 'cos Scipio knew what to do
Men he confided just stepped aside so the beasts could walk through
The Italians asked Hannibal to surrender or they'd hunt his head
But Hannibal thought 'Fuck it all' and chose to be exiled instead

Pride was something too dear to him to hand over to his eternal foe
He held his chin and banners up high and never took that final bow
His legacy will still remain for many years still to come
To honour him just remember: it won't be over till it's done

His name is Sam and he's from down South
he'll eat all things that come near his mouth

(or hand him bananas, he likes those too!)

Send him some morphine, send him some love
He won't be needing it, but that's too tough
The plot's not lost, he knows his plan
And I'm sure someday, you'll understand!

He's lying down, his eyes half closed
And soon enough comes a new dose
He looks outside, dreams away
This simian is here to stay

I bet you wonder why he's this cool
With death around him, what could he do
His cage a palace, his food a drug
His only answer, a content shrug

The Praetorians

They originate as servants for warlords long ago
The highest skill in battle, they didn't fear a foe
The Roman leader noticed, he could use a hand

Beside his throne of power his guardians reside
Useless all his power, worthless all his might

These weren't normal soldiers, they didn't go for clean
'Cos these were the most fearless,the world had ever seen
The Emperor used them mainly to enforce his might
But his laws weren't the only that these men would abide
They forced him into corners, then pushed him through the wall
These soldiers weren't guardians; they came and wrote the law
They didn't want to lighten the loads their leaders burdened
The Caesars were too frightened and eventually got murdered
