Our history...

The time of The Drowning Trout begins in the city of Hellevoetsluis in early 2005, as Arnaud and Jurre, both friends from a local orchestra, want to start their own rock 'n roll band.

Jurre had been playing the guitar for quite some time, and Arnaud began playing bass. Another friend from the orchestra, Quint, signs up to do the drums shortly after, only to be followed by potential singer Greg - a high school classmate of Arnaud at the time. The band plays under the name of Emperör, and in August 2006, the band has their first public outing in the Cul de Sac bar in Tilburg; the gig which also marks the start of the frisbee tradition.

It is shortly after that the band changes their name to Imperatör, in order to avoid confusion with the renowned metalband 'Emperor'. The band then evolves from a punkish hardrock sound to a more defined bluesrock taste, brings out a small rehearsal demo in the spring of 2008 and positively surprises nay-sayers at several more outings that same year.

It is then that the band, in mutual agreement, parts ways with its original guitarist Jurre van der Mije, and chooses to change the band name into a more fitting one to the hardened bluesrock sound; the band names itself after the infamous pub from the movie Snatch, called The Drowning Trout.

After working a few months with guitarist Jon, the band eventually finds its new permanent guitarist in the form of Milan, and, with his help, sets out to progress its sound even further. In 2009, the band starts working on their debut album, which is to include the best songs from the repertoire built up over the years. The album will be selftitled, and most likely be released in the year 2011.

What the rest of the future has in store? Only time will tell...
