Free drinks, wax earplugs...and frisbees
In case you hadn't already noticed - we've done it again.
Thursday the 12th of June 2008 marks the day upon which we released our fresh frisbee (frisbee?) fury into the wild once again. The event itself sadly wasn't open to the public, but for us it was the first occasion to get our new set out in the open, and really show what we're on about. A half hour set.
The evening started with soundchecking; while I warmed up in the lavatory (rock 'n roll, fuck yeah) Jurre, Arnaud en Quint each gave the soundtechnician a run for his money. When I'd returned, we played Baking Poets to give the technician a chance to even us all out. Then we hung by the bar, saw that every visitor was handed a set of earplugs for (and I quote the label on the packages) 'the noise' and then waited for the 11th hour.
And before we knew it, it was time to get busy. The people already gathered were still cautious in approaching us closely, but we chose to let our music do the talking. Even though the overall soundmix and the venue's acoustics left alot to be desired, we just played to the best of our ability and, apparently, succeeded in doing so; the overall impression we got from people afterwards is that they liked the music, and especially the show we put on. Needless to say ofcourse that if you weren't there, you missed something.
The setlist was as follows:
Off To Rome
Seventy-Two Virgins
Gorillawrath
Thank God For God
The Praetorians
Mindcontrolled
Encore:
Baking Poets
Here's some pictures of the night:
Soundchecking, by doing 'Baking Poets' and an excerpt from 'Thank God For God' (the latter of which was enthusiastically received by the onlookers)
The obligatory bar shot, awaiting the start of our timeslot. F.l.t.r. Arnaud, Greg, Jurre and Quint
Then a huge horde of Huns came storming into the venue. Note Quint's hindu-like calmness...what is he upto?
During our opener 'Off To Rome', with Jurre on guitar to the left, Greg in the middle and Arnaud on the right
Firing up 'The Praetorians'. Quint put on his aviator glasses especially for this song, though you can't see it in this picture.
