The First Sighting On Stage
Tonight Emperör debuted on stage, at the birthdayparty of a now-50 year old.
Greg had gone to a metalfestival prior to the event, but still managed to save his voice. He met up with Sesq and Animal and Animal's place and later they all went to the venue, where Jurrë was already awaiting their arrival.
After 10 minutes of socializing, the 4 of us went to the stage and locked and loaded our weaponry. When everything was eventually at the ready, Emperör began its first battle.
The overall mentality of us prior to the event was to take it mellow, no setlist and just make it up as we went along. And so we did. We eventually played 6 songs, 2 from our own material (the punkpersiflage 'Baking Poets' and the bluesintermezzo 'Off To Rome') and 4 covers that were mainly improvized (War Is My Sheppard from Exodus, Whiplash from Metallica, Paranoid from Black Sabbath and Milk from SOD)
Despite a few hick-ups here and there, all normal for a band this young, it has been truly stunning. Jurrë was steaming along nicely with his new amps, Sesq laid down the tracks flawlessly, Animal did his artilleryracket on the drums with a nice drumsolo at the end of it and Greg did some long, highpitched screams when he had the chance. Main highlights of our performance were mainly our damn-near-perfect cover of Paranoid and that Greg, when he had to come up with a song to sing under a basic midtempo rhythm, came up with Milk from SOD. And there's lots more, ofcourse.
Here's an impression of the night.
All the best and see you soon. Ahrrr.
